This is me and some of my friends at a Discoteca in Calle Arriba.
This night was Samy and Sandra Sandraval. They are very, very popular with volunteers.
Samy and Sandra would play three or four songs and then the Discoteca would play Salsa and Merenge for about a half and hour, then Samy and Sandra again.
This went on all night until 4 am. Then we all went home and got up at 9 am to go to the water cannons till 1 PM. I usually got back to bed at 2 PM to get up at 6pm.
In San Jose we also have Calle Arriba and Abajo.
So at 7 PM or so they would come out with their "Tunas", which consist of three drums and singers. This would go on till 10pm when the band got there and then they would sing with the band and shoot of fireworks, also made in San Jose.
Most everyone left San Jose by 10 PM or 11 PM to go into Las Tablas to see the Queens and go to the dances.

These are two RPCVs.
The one standing is Roman. He lives in Los Santos and was in my group 96-98. He was an AgroForrestry Vol. but now he works with the German Peace Corps in one of the local national parks.
The other sitting down is Dorian Stone. He was also in my group, one of the two Business volunteers we had.
Dorian is now the APCD for the Business program in Panama. His girlfriend is sitting beside him on the floor. This is Roman's apartment in Los Santos, about 30 minutes from Las Tablas.
