PCPF meeting, October 30, 1999.
|
On Saturday evening, October 30, the PCPF D.C. based leadership had a gathering
of note. Steve Spangler hosted the gathering for food, socializing and
some planning.
Attending were Jerry Lutes, Bonnie Birker, Carol Ritter, Bob Brown, Kevin Webb, Bud Keith, Jo Ellen Keating, and Dane Smith, the new CEO of the National Peace Corps Association. We also had two visitors from Panama, the current country director, Janice Jorgensen and Eda Soto de Copri, from ANCON, the conservation organization to whom we have donated more than $10,000. We have committed ourselves to publishing a new PCPF directory, we are going to continue our web site, we will continue periodic issues of our newsletter, El Bochinche, renew our efforts to update our data base of returned volunteers and staff who served in Panama (especially hoping to locate folks who have served in the 1990's), and renew our fund-raising activities to sopport worthy projects in Panama. If you think that's all we did, I can assure you that we downed some good chili and chicken, and washed it down with some long necks. We will need help from the larger community. As things progress we'll send out messages requesting help with specific tasks. I'd like to send you a list of the current members on this list and request your help to recruit others. Bonnie Birker has collected approximately 240 email addresses for our community, but we only have 28 folks on this listserv. I'll send the list out in a few days. Please let me know if you do not wish your name and/or email address circulated to the other list members. We'd like to prevent spam, so for the email directory that we will post on the web site, there will be instructions for member use only. You should be able to tell how to respond to me only if that's your wish, or you can respond to the entire list. Let's get this show on the road. - Bud Keith, PCPF President |
